Resume or Interview to get the job? (Discussion)

If you had to decide on either sending in a resume or just having an interview which one would you pick?

It’s really based on personal preference, whether you feel you’re stronger in writing on who you are and what qualifications you have, or actually discussing it with a potential employer.

If I could personally choose, I’d have to go with an interview. There’s things about a resume that just can’t be told through words the way meeting someone in person can.

I agree with you Krista. A resume doesn’t allow you to show your personality in the same way as an interview would be able to do. Your body language, your negotiation skills, your interpersonal skills and much more are impossible to be conveyed on paper. You might be the best resume-writer but in the end when it comes to the interview situation you might be the worst candidate. I would also prefer to convince a prospective employer in person rather than just on paper (that I’m the right candidate). And let’s not forget: people love hiring people they like.

I agree with you! The “pictures talks” a thousands times more than words; and lengthy resumes nobody will read!
